The Airgun Technology Vixen 2 Long builds on the platform of the original Vixen model. The Long version is distinguished by its longer CZ barrel (500 mm), which increases muzzle velocity and optimises air efficiency compared to the shorter Carbine model. The rifle is designed for shooters who demand consistency in long-range shooting, as well as for control tasks.
The Vixen 2 Long utilises an unconventional design, in which the carbon fibre tank is positioned at the rear and acts as the rifle’s buttstock. This positioning shifts the centre of gravity rearwards towards the shooter’s shoulder, reducing the strain on the supporting arm during standing shooting and providing a neutral balance.
The primary mechanical change in version 2 is an increased plenum volume. The larger plenum ensures that the regulator has a sufficient supply of stabilised air available before each shot. This results in minimal standard deviation and spread between shots.
The aluminium fore-end has been milled to allow for the direct integration of modern mounting systems:
- Base: Integrated Arca-Swiss profile, which allows the rifle to be locked directly into professional shooting rests and tripods without the need for external adaptors.
- Sides: M-LOK slots for mounting bipods, weights or lighting equipment.
- Top: A standard 22 mm Picatinny rail ensures a stable, mechanical connection for rifle scopes.
The trigger is an adjustable match trigger, where both the first and second stages can be adjusted individually. The loading handle (biathlon-style) is positioned on the side and can be reversed, allowing the rifle to be operated ambidextrously (by both right- and left-handed shooters).
